Mumbai residents are facing thick smog, low visibility and inconvenience this week. Mumbai’s air quality index (AQI) reached the severe category. Now actor and comedian Vir Das has expressed his concern over Mumbai’s AQI in a song which he has written, composed and sung. He posted it on his Instagram account pointing out the daily struggles of people living in the city.

In the video, Veer was seen singing something like ukulele in front of the camera. “Woke up this morning and took a breather. God appeared because he thought I was dead. I thought, wait brother, it’s because of the smoke. This is life inside a desi metro! AQI!” He sang.
He further added, “**** my life. And I really try to maintain the spirit of Mumbai… The smoke is wrong, we can’t see eye to eye/ And my throat is drying/ The Bandra-Worli sea link I can’t look either way… Builders are constructing every day. Do we need 9000 BHKs?”
“If your kids are locked in a room, you can hear the bulldozers! Grandpa says, let me die son, it’s not that fast. My lungs are clogged, it’s no fun. If your customers are dead, who’s gonna buy your flat? AQI, AQI, let me die. This smoke is suffocating me. Why can’t we see eye to eye? AQI,” he sang further, ending with the sound of a cough. Did it.

About Mumbai AQI Status
Jyoti Chavan, additional government counsel in Mumbai, told the HC on Thursday that air pollution has worsened due to the volcanic eruption in Ethiopia two days ago. The court rejected the volcanic ash argument. “Even before this explosion, if anyone went out, visibility was poor,” the court said, according to news agency PTI.
Meanwhile, over the past week the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued stop-work notices to over 50 construction sites for failing to follow guidelines mandating installation of AQI sensors and water sprinklers among other measures to curb dust pollution. Two monitoring squads are inspecting construction sites at the ward level.
