Multiple accounts will run on WhatsApp.WhatsApp has finally started testing the long-awaited multi-account support feature for iOS users. This new feature is very useful for those who want to use two WhatsApp numbers on the same device. Now users can switch between their accounts directly from Settings without logging out or restarting the app.
In the latest beta version of iOS 25.34.10.72, testers are seeing a new Account List section. In this section, users can add their second WhatsApp account.
The surprising thing is that now users neither need a second phone nor WhatsApp Business app to manage two numbers. WhatsApp currently allows linking two accounts on the same device.
How to add a new account?
WhatsApp is offering three methods to add another account:
- create new account
- Add an existing account (whether on another phone or WhatsApp Business)
- Link Companion account by scanning QR code
Once you add a new or existing account, chats and settings sync automatically. With this, multi-number management has become much easier than before.
Chat and backup of each account will be completely different
WhatsApp has also made sure that every account works completely differently.
- chat history
- backup
- notification tone
- Privacy options (e.g. Last Seen, profile photo visibility)
- Media auto-download setting
Everything will be different. Even muted chats will not affect other accounts.
Multi-account notifications will be more clear
WhatsApp has also improved notifications. Even if an account is not active, you will still get alerts of incoming messages. In the new notification, it will be clearly visible on which account the message has come, so that users will immediately know which profile to check.
This new feature is very useful for those users who want to keep office and personal numbers separate. It is expected that soon this feature will be rolled out for all iOS users.
