GRAP Phase IV implemented in Delhi-NCR
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Saturday imposed strict measures under its air pollution control plan, GRAP, including a ban on all construction and demolition activities in Delhi-NCR, PTI reported. The ban was imposed after pollution levels increased rapidly amid adverse meteorological conditions.
The sub-committee on GRAP had earlier in the day decided to implement Phase III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the entire NCR with immediate effect as the air quality continued to deteriorate.
However, seeing a further sharp rise in pollution levels since morning, the sub-committee held an urgent meeting at 6.30 pm to review the situation and weather forecast by the IMD and IITM.
North Eastern States
Dense fog is likely to prevail in the morning hours in isolated areas of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from December 14 to December 18.
Similar fog conditions are expected over Assam and Meghalaya as well as western Uttar Pradesh from December 14 to 16 and Himachal Pradesh on December 14, the IMD said in an official release. Dense fog may also occur in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on 15 and 16 December.
