The boom for Germany arrives at a time when the US visa process has delayed and strict investigation has been worried about many Indian students about their educational future

American students are struggling to secure American student visa appointments, Germany has rapidly emerged as a favorite destination for higher education.
The enrollment of Indian students in German universities has been tripled by 2022, crossing 60,000 points this year.
German Ambassador to India, Dr. Philip Acmanman said on Friday that about 20% more Indian students have nominated for higher education in their country this year.

The Government of India data shows that the number of Indian students in Germany has increased from about 20,684 in 2022 to about 35,000 in 2024 – and now this year has increased to about 60,000 this year, which is doubling in just one year since 2022 and there were 23,296 Indian students in Germany in 2023.
The Government of India was based on the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) data and covers those who have revealed the purpose of their journey in the form of study or education while going abroad during the year.
Last year, Germany said that Indian students formed the largest international community for the second consecutive year.
Empowerment from the Federal Statistical Office of the Daad-German Academic Excite Service from the Federal Statistical Office of the Germany said that 49,483 Indian students were enrolled in the country for the Winter Semester 2023-2024, showing an increase of 15.1% compared to the previous year.
The earlier number of DAAD states that in the East-Kovid years, there were 20,810 Indian students in Germany and 25,149 in 2019. In 2020, a total of 28,905 Indian students were in Germany.
Breakup shows that 60% of these students were enrolled for engineering, 21% for law, management and social studies and 13% for mathematics and natural science.
The boom for Germany comes at a time when many Indian students have worried about their educational future delayed and strict investigation.
US visa cry
Last month, the Ministry of External Affairs told Parliament that it had received several representation from Indian students and their families, who difficult to obtain visa appointments.
The ministry said it raised the matter with the US Embassy in New Delhi along with the US State Department (DOS).
The issue began after June 18, when US DOS announced expanded screening and veating for visa applicants. Now, DOS is using all available information – including online attendance – waiting for their visa screening and to identify visa applicants that are unfair to the United States, including them, which threatens American national security.
Citing the new rules from DOS, Mea said that “each visa assistant is a national security decision and should be cautious during the process of issuing visa to the US to ensure that people applying for entry into the United States do not intend to harm Americans and American national interests.”
All applicants need to establish their eligibility for reliably sought visas, in which they intend to engage in activities that suit the conditions for their entry.
The Government of India was told by the US that additional security requirements for student visas have reduced the capacity of the US Embassy and reduced the consulates to process visas in India.
“However, the student visa appointments are now open,” said this.
Mea also said that the US Embassy is working to open a limited number of additional student visa appointments in the end of August to recognize the immediate need for these appointments before the beginning of the new academic year.
The MEA stated that the US Embassy is developing a student visa fact sheet, which consists of frequently asked questions (FAQs), helping to reduce uncertainty around the issue.
While the US has promised to reduce visa bottlenecks in the coming months, the frequent rise of Indian students in Germany suggests that many are already searching for options beyond traditional sites.
