New Delhi: ISRO on Friday unveiled a model of the Indian Anticash Station (BAS) module during the two -day National Space Day celebrations, which began here.
India plans to launch the first module of their own home-made space station, BAS by 2028, marking the entry into a group of a handful of nations that operate orbital laboratories.
Currently, there are two orbital laboratories – the international space station operated by five space agencies, and the Tiangong space station in China.
India’s plan has five modules of the Indian Anticash Station by 2035 as part of its ambitious plans for the space sector by 2035.
The Bas-01 module is expected to weigh 10 tonnes and will be placed in a low earth orbit of 450 km above Earth.
The main features of BAS include indigenously developed environmental control and life aid system (ECLSS), India Docking System, India Birthing Mechanism, Automatic Hatches System, Micrography Research and Forum for Performing Forum, Scientific Imaging and Crew Records.
The BAS will provide a provision to re -start the airllock to the propulsion and ECLSS fluid, radiation, thermal and micro -meteor orbit orbital debris (MMOD) security, space suits, additional vehicles to the airlock and to play plugs and plugs and integrated avionics.
The BAS is expected to work as a research platform to study various aspects of space, life science, medical and interstate exploration.
This will provide an opportunity to study the effects of microgravity on human health and test the essential technologies required for long -term human presence in space.
The space station will support space tourism, entering the commercial space sector by taking advantage of the orbital lab resources with India.
The BAS will contribute to the ongoing international collaboration and will also serve as a center for scientific research and also inspire younger generations to consider career in space science and technology.
The 3.8 meter x 8 meter Bas-01 model on a large scale was the center of attraction among those participating in the National Space Day celebrations at Bharat Mandapam here.
