So far, four US presidents have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The 47th President of the US Donald Trump is also eyeing this, claiming to end at least seven wars in recent times. But can he join the first four category?
The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 will be announced on 10 October. At least four have claimed to nominate Donald Trump for prestigious honors.
These included Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, American representative Buddy Carter and governments of Pakistan and Cambodia.

Who are the four US President to receive the Nobel Peace Prize?
1. Theodore Roosevelt (1906): In 1904–1905, the award was received for peace talks in the Russia-Japanese war. This was the first time the award was controversial.
2. Woodrow Wilson (1919): The Nobel Peace Prize 1919 Thomas Woodrow Wilson was awarded “for his role as the founder of the United Nations”. After the murder of millions of people in the First World War, world peace was to be ensured. He received the Nobel Prize of 1919 in 1920 a year later.
3. Jimmy Carter (2002): He was honored for “finding peaceful solutions to international conflicts, pursuing democracy and human rights for his decades to promote economic and social development”. The highest point of his presidential tenure was the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.
4. Barack Obama (2009): The Nobel Committee praised Obama for “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation among people”.
Can Trump become the 5th President to receive Nobel Peace Prize?
US President Trump has long been believed that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. He has claimed “ending seven wars” since he took over in 2017.
It also includes the India-Pakistan struggle in May this year. Trump claimed that he “stopped” the India -Pakistan struggle through trade in early May – this claim was rejected by India.
What do experts say?
The opinion of experts is contrary to his views on Trump’s peace efforts. He reportedly feels that no concrete achievements have been received from the President so far.
Meanwhile, experts told the Associated Press that the Nobel Committee is unlikely to award Trump for his second term achievements so far.
1. ‘Trump’s own record can work against him’
Experts said that the Norwegian Nobel Committee generally focuses on the durability of peace, promoting international brotherhood and the peaceful work of institutions that strengthen those goals.
Quoting experts, the AP cited his clear disdain towards multilateral institutions and his neglect of global climate change concerns, saying that Trump’s own record could also work against him.
“I don’t think he does not think he would give the world’s most prestigious awards who do not believe in climate change,” said Henry Jackson Society historian and research Fellow Theo Zenou said. ABC News,
2. The stability of peace
Some experts claimed that the Norwegian Nobel Committee favors multilateral peace efforts rather than a quick diplomatic victory.
Theo Zenou said that Trump’s efforts have not yet proved to be long lasting. “There is a huge difference between stopping the fight in the short term and solving the root causes of conflict,” said Zenou quoted.
Meanwhile, Christin Sandwick of Peace Research Institute Oslo said, “For Trump, we need to see what achievements will be achieved and what kind of peace is left after a few years from now.”
“Surely they have not been dismissed and they have made a very serious effort to talk about peace, but you need to do anything other than trying [sic]”Professor Sandvik allegedly said.
3. Trump himself is advocating
No person can nominate himself, but Trump has repeatedly stated that he is “entitled” of the award and claims to “end” seven wars “.
Without pointing to anyone, an official of the Nobel Committee said that the person who advocates himself for the Nobel Peace Prize could be unfavorable.
“This type of impact campaigns have a negative impact rather than a positive impact,” told the Reuters, Deputy Leader of the Current Nobel Committee.
Taz said, “Some candidates put a lot of emphasis for this and we do not like it.” However, he said that he was generally speaking about lobbying, not about any particular candidate.
