New Delhi. The only Pambon Bridge built in the sea to go to Rameshwaram will be inaugurated on 6 April. On the day of Ram Navami, the Prime Minister will dedicate this bridge to the country. After this, Rameshwaram can be reached by train from any corner of the country. The question arises that if this only railway bridge is closed, then how did the devotees reach Rameshwaram till now? The railway bridge at the sea was completed in 1914 in the British period to reach the devotees to reach Rameshwaram. After this, devotees were reaching Rameshwaram in a convenient manner by train. There was only one track in it, from this the train used to go and come. Due to the bridge being old, the speed of trains was also low. After 108 years of construction, it was discontinued on 23 December 2022 age and technical reasons. The movement of trains between Rameswaram Island came to a standstill. After this, trains used to go to Mandapam instead of Rameshwaram.
This is the option after the bridge is closed
Trains for Rameswaram first reached Mandapam in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu and then reached Rameswaram via Pamban Bridge. In this way, devotees used to reach Tirthanagri Rameshwaram in just 15 minutes. Currently, all trains end in Mandapam and people use a bridge built on the sea to reach Rameswaram. This bridge is built in 1988.
Sounds tall jam
Since Rameshwaram comes millions of devotees from India and abroad. After Mandapam, one has to go by bus or taxi to reach the island of Rameshwaram. Due to this, the number of vehicles passing through the bridge becomes a lot, which keeps the jam here and waste people’s time. While the devotees used to reach Rameshwaram from Mandapam in 15 minutes, it takes up to one hour due to the jam.
