Report-Sonali Bhati
Jalore. He who has no one has someone above him. And God himself sends one of his representatives as a servant to the needy. Such are the lights of Jalore who are not helpers of the living but of the dead. They perform the last rites of those dead who have no one. That is, unclaimed dead bodies are cremated according to their religion.
This person is social worker Prakash Prajapati of Jalore. So far, in 11 and a half years, he has performed free cremation of more than 1300 (1302) dead bodies. During the two-year Corona period, he cremated 360 dead bodies. By profession he is the owner of a computer institute. Prakash Prajapati also donates blood at his level and helps and cares for the helpless, needy and destitute patients in the hospital.
service with all your heart and soul
Like always, even during the lockdown, social worker Prakash Prajapati, living in Sirohi, kept performing the last rites like a Karmaveer by taking the dead bodies to their destination free of cost. Be it day or night, whenever Prakash receives a call within 24 hours, he immediately reaches the spot. They take the dead body from the hospital to their home in Sirohi or nearby villages located within a radius of 35 to 40 kilometers and then their last rites are performed.
Donate your body too
Prajapati has filled the pledge form of donating his body while he is alive. He has announced to donate his body along with his organs posthumously. Prakash Prajapati has also started a free hearse service in the memory of his father late Harjiramji Prajapati.
This is how I got inspiration
Prajapati told that 11 years ago, the body of a beggar woman living on the footpath in Sirohi was sent in an empty tractor trolley to collect garbage. This trolley was full of filth. My heart was shaken after seeing this heart-wrenching scene. Just that day I decided in my mind that from today onwards no unclaimed or destitute deceased will face this fate in Sirohi. Rather, he himself will get every unclaimed dead body cremated as per his religion. He says that every abandoned person has the right to leave this world with the same respect as the deceased from a rich family. From then till today this trend continues.
