New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has issued model rules for trees in agricultural land with the objective of promoting the export of wood-based products.
The rules are designed to support the ease of doing business for those involved in tree-based farming. By promoting domestic wood production through agrophory, the approach tries to close the demand-supply difference, support wood-based industries with local raw materials and promote exports.
“The objective of the model regulations is to establish a well -organized regulatory structure by registering agaroforestry land and providing simplified procedures for tree harvesting and transit management. The initiative is expected from the initiative to encourage greater participation and open opportunities to farmers and other stakeholders to adopt agroporesury practice,” according to a press status.

According to ministry officials, the initiative will go a long way in doubling the income of the farm, reducing wood imports and creating a permanent land-use model.
According to the Ministry’s statement, the state-level committee established under the Wood-based industries (establishment and regulation) guidelines to implement these model rules will also be responsible for implementing these model rules. Its role will have to guide the states and center areas to increase the production of wood from the fields, especially for commercially valuable species, by reducing the rules related to impregnation of aggression and tree harvesting and wood transport. The committee will cover agencies to confirm the applications for the decline of trees from agricultural land.
According to model rules, applicants need to register their gardens on the National Timber Management System (NTMS) portal, which are being developed. This includes presenting basic plantation data including land ownership, farm location, species and plantation periods.
Applicants can update the information of plantation from time to time and upload geotagged photos of tree plantation to ensure traceability. In addition, applicants wishing to harvest trees from registered gardens can apply online through NTMs, which provide specific details of trees desired for failing.
In addition, the verified agencies will be inspected site and based on their verification reports, a tree flying permit for agricultural land will be issued. Divisional Forest Officers will oversee the performance of these agencies through periodic supervision and surveillance.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has requested the states and center areas to check the model rules and consider their adoption to encourage trees in their agricultural systems without encouraging the ease of trade in aggressor and improper proximity.
