Bong, a young boy living with his single mother in a Manipuri village, revolves around his father, Joykumar’s unexplained disappearance.
Filmmaker Lakshmipriya Devi’s acclaimed Manipuri film Bong is set to release in theaters on 19 September. It is produced by Furhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment with chalkboard entertainment and appropriate paintings.
The film stars Gugun Kipgen and Bala Hizam in the lead roles. According to a press release, PVR Inox will be released in select cities and cinemas.
Bong, a Manipuri village, revolves around a young boy living with his single mother, both are struggling with their father, Joykumar’s unexplained disappearance. Once working outside the city, Joykumar has disappeared without any trace – looking at unanswered questions: Is he dead? Or has he left them? Started to give her mother a “best gift ever”, Bong arrives on a hearty journey with her best friend to find her missing father.
The film had a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2024.
Devi, who has previously worked as a assistant director in films like Luck by Chance, Talash, PK and Meera Nair as a series A suitable boy, started her direction with the film.
