Dr. Rohit Sharma rejected several myths about metabolic health and shared facts. What should you know here?

In an interview with HT lifestyle, Dr. Rohit Sharma, Advisor, Internal Medicine, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Jaipur said, “Between fad diet, fitness hack and social media advice, myths about metabolism often supervise science.” The doctor busted several myths. Myth 1: Thin people automatically have rapid metabolism
fact: The body size and muscle mass affects the metabolic rate more than weight alone. Large bodies burn more calories as they require more energy to work
Myth 2: Eating small, frequent food causes metabolism
fact: Eating snacks throughout the day can reduce appetite while research shows that it does not promote metabolism. Finally what matters the quality of food and overall calorie balance.

Myth 3: Some foods or drink supercharged metabolism
fact: Green tea, coffee and spicy foods can cause a temporary calorie burns, but the effect is minimal. No food can change the metabolic rate dramatically. Long -term habits such as balanced nutrition and regular activity matters the most. Myth 4: Metabolism slows down with age

fact: Both play an important role. Poor sleep disrupts hormones that regulate appetite and fat storage, while chronic stress increases cortisol levels, making it difficult to maintain a healthy metabolism.

“The key to supporting metabolism is frequent exercise such as strength training, protein and fiber -rich -rich food, good sleep hygiene, and stress management. It is also important to avoid hydration and extreme accident diet, as restrictive food can really slow down the metabolism over time,” the doctor said.
