London, September 19 – Irish designer Paul Costallo withdrew fashionists to California of the 1960s, while Turkish -born Bora Aksu celebrated cracks and flaws at London Fashion Week on Friday.
Setting the scene on Rhodio Drive in 1967, Costelo opened its “Bulleward of Dreams” Spring-Smar 2026 presentation with yellow pink, yellow and blue feminine creations. There were pointed collar or bow, ornate mini and jackets with shift dress. All were combined with the matching stage shoes.
The model wore floral and frilli designs that nodded in the 1960s fashion, including a lot of short clothes as well as cut-out gowns.
“This is a very happy collection. It reflects California in the late sixties,” Costelo told Reuters. “Prerna ‘is from Valley of the Dolls … It is a very western coast of America and is very chic, very fresh, very exciting.” Aksu said that this season he turned to his collection of broken dolls for inspiration.
The model wore ornate clothes with layers, embroidery and lots of lace trimming.
Aksu saw frills on the sleeve, large shiny sequins on the skirt and gloves on frokes and complex flowers.
The look was layered: tier dresses or jackets on a long blouse that were hung on a skirt. The model also worn a bonnet hat tied under the neck and adorned with a bow or sequin.
“I think we are like a doll … we have … our hearts are broken or we go through things. But … we are still alive and then it becomes our part,” Aksu told the Reuters.
“With the doll, with all these cracks and defects, I was thinking, I want to keep it and I bring it to life again. So it is not about covering their cracks, but it’s about hugging them.”
London Fashion Week, which closed on Thursday evening and lasts until Monday, is the second stage of the Spring-Smar 2026 Catwalk Calendar, which began in New York and then headed by Milan and Paris.
