Macadamia nuts are rich in omega-3, omega-6 and omega 7 fatty acids in the right proportions which can relieve inflammation.
Although it is essential that we consume foods containing adequate amounts of essential nutrients such as vitamins and proteins, it is essential that we keep an eye on our omega-3 and omega-6 intake. Nutritionist Namami Agarwal, sharing her insights with HT Lifestyle, said, “A fun fact about omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids is that our body does not produce them, we need our body to synthesize them. It is required from outside. So you need natural sources to contain them and as the most powerful source of them there is nothing better than macadamia nuts.” Read this also Omega-3 fatty acids are a health superhero. Why do we need omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids?
Important to maintain our heart health: Omega fatty acids increase the production of pro-resolution mediators (SPMs). These anti-inflammatory molecules reduce the trigger or occurrence of our body’s inflammatory response. This keeps the heart healthy and functions smoothly.
Prevent and maintain brain health: Omega fatty acids are known to prevent decline in cognitive functions of the brain by reducing the inflammatory response of cytokines and thereby improving brain function, memory and mood.
Building blocks for gut and skin health: They reduce inflammation and thus help in keeping the skin hydrated and youthful, acne-free. It also prevents intestinal problems, bloating and constipation. Read this also Omega-3 fatty acids help maintain lung health: Study
Deficiency of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids can lead to health problems:
omega-3 fatty acids: These fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties and are responsible for reducing markers that can lead to heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer, but alone they are not as effective.
omega-6 fatty acids:They are also particularly necessary for the synthesis of omega 3, but too much of omega-6 can cause inflammation, which may contribute to chronic diseases.
Include Macadamia Nuts in Your Diet

Namami Agarwal further said that macadamia nuts can ensure that we get adequate amounts of omega-3, omega-6 and omega-7 fatty acids. “Macadamia is one of the only nuts to provide omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and omega 7 fatty acids. Other nuts are mostly high in omega-6 fatty acids, so consuming them in excess can cause inflammation. Macadamia nuts contain these in correct proportions and balanced proportions. This balance makes these nuts optimal for good health and helps reduce inflammation,” said the nutritionist. Read this also Omega-3 and Omega-6 against cancer: Include these healthy fats in your diet
