The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over alleged anti-Modi posters in the US ahead of the Prime Minister’s three-day visit.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared a poster on his @xport handle which read, “Protest: Modi, you are not welcome in New York.”
The alleged poster called on people to “raise their voices against a decade of oppression”.
“Every time Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, he indulges in the most divisive anti-India politics, including colluding with agencies and collaborating with forces against India’s interests,” Malviya said while sharing the poster in a post on Instagram.
Malviya further alleged that Congress leaders had gone to the extent of appealing to Western powers to interfere in Indian politics.
“The Congress will never succeed, that is a different matter. But now Sam Pitroda and his associates are planning a protest against the Prime Minister during his visit to New York,” the BJP leader claimed.
He said Rahul Gandhi should remember that he is seeking political relevance in India. “When the time comes, the people of India will give him a befitting reply,” Malviya said.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi also attacked the opposition leader, saying, “After Rahul Gandhi returned from playing politics with his sponsored pawns, I think the same group in the US is now running this hate ad against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Terming the poster as objectionable, Trivedi told ANI, “This is a hate advertisement and there is no doubt that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has met and received support from forces that have been declared enemies of India, are they the same groups who are showing this hate advertisement?”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday evening for his three-day visit to the US.
Just before the Quad summit, Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden. From Wilmington, the Prime Minister will travel to New York.
