Police on Tuesday rescued a 7-year-old schoolboy and arrested two kidnappers, less than six hours after he was kidnapped from a school bus. Police claim that the boy was kidnapped for ransom.
The student of Krishna Boarding School, Alamnagar, was kidnapped from the school bus in which he was going to school along with 40 other students around 7 am on Tuesday.
Confirming the safe recovery of the child, Madhepura Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Sandeep Singh told HT over phone that two kidnappers have also been arrested, adding, “The boy was kidnapped for ransom.”
He said, “The child has been recovered safely from Beldaur police station area of Khagaria district.” He said, “The village from where the abducted child has been recovered is in Beldaur police station area of Khagaria.”
The SP said that the police is interrogating the arrested people and some more people will be arrested. “It was a challenge for the police and we are happy that the child could be recovered safely,” he said.
The child, identified as Mayank Kumar, son of businessman and Phulaut resident Rakesh Sah, was abducted from a school bus near Karhama Chowk under Puraini police station area on Tuesday morning.
Thanking the Madhepura SP and his entire team, the happy father said, “Happiness returned on Diwali due to the prompt action of the police.”
As usual, the child left for school around 6.30 in the morning and within half an hour, five criminals riding on two bikes stopped the school bus near Karhama Chowk and forcibly took the child and fled from the spot.
