Due to the forecast of heavy rains, all schools, colleges and Anganwadis in Dakshina Kannada will remain closed on 25 July as per the order of the district administration.

The monsoon rains continue to whip Karnataka, and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated a more huge drop in coastal and Malnad regions this week. With the alerts released for several districts, officials have carried out holidays for schools and colleges in some areas on Thursday, 25 July.
A yellow alert has been issued for Bengaluru and internal districts such as Hassan, Kolar, Mysuru and Tumkuru. On 25 July, Bengaluru is expected to be cloudy with thunder, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruption.
According to the State Agriculture Department, heavy rains running already have started damaging crops like coffee and paddy in districts like Kodagu, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru. Farmers have been advised to secure their farm and strengthen the drainage systems to prevent further damage.
Precautionary measures in place
The Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued a high warning in coastal areas. Fishermen have been strictly warned against entering the sea due to air speed reaching 40–50 km per hour. Residents of low-to-low areas have been asked to be cautious in terms of emergency and contact local authorities.
IMD has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue across the state till 26 July. While coastal districts are expected to see intense rains, moderate rainfall is forecast in internal areas. Disaster response teams are placed on standby, and the state government has urged citizens to be safe and cautious.
Mangaluru update
In Dakshin Kannada, the district administration on 25 July has announced a holiday for all governments, aided and private schools and colleges, which are due to the expected heavy rains.
The low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is accelerating rain activity in coastal districts like Dakshin Kannada, North Kannada and Udupi. Malnad districts including Shivamogga, Chikkamaluru, Kodagu and Hasan are also expected to see heavy rainfall.
An orange warning has been issued from July 24 to July 30 for these areas, heavy to very heavy rainfall, gusti winds (30–40 km per hour), thunder and power warning. The rains have already disrupted daily life in many coastal areas, and officials are urging people to be vigilant.
