Panic spread among people
Collector in charge of Barwani, Kajal Javla said that 23 people in Rajpur city and 7 people in nearby villages have been victims of dog attacks. He told that a dog in Rajpur city suddenly became fierce and started biting people running around. His attack caused panic among the people.
He said that the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) has been instructed to set up camps in Rajpur and has been asked to keep sufficient amount of anti-rebase and immunoglobulin injection. Along with this, the Forest Department has also been directed that no rabies infected wild animals are roaming in the surrounding areas, it should be investigated. Nagar Parishad Rajpur has also been kept on alert and the local citizens have been appealed not to leave the house at night.
CMHO Dr. Surekha Jamre said that 14 of the injured people come under Category-1 (light cutting or scratch), 12 people Category-2 (medium serious cutting), and 4 people fall under Category-3 (severe cutting). All have been given treatment according to the severity of their wounds. After the incident, efforts are on to control the situation with the readiness of the administration and health department, but there is an atmosphere of fear and anxiety in the area.
