Kangana Ranaut has opened up about the delay in the release of her first solo directorial venture ‘Emergency’, which is now scheduled to release in theaters on January 17.

Kangana on delay in release of emergency
Speaking to AyraNews24x7, Kangana said that she was ‘scared’ of the delay in the film’s release when the CBFC refused to certify it for months. “I felt it was a wrong decision to release it in theatres. I thought I could have got a better deal on OTT. I too would not have had to go through censorship then and my film would not have been dissected. I didn’t know what they (CBFC) would remove and allow us to keep,” he said.
The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) is a body that certifies all films released in India as fit for public consumption. It reports to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Kangana spoke on the direction of emergency
The actor-turned-filmmaker said she made many other ‘wrong choices’ during the making of the film. “I felt like I made bad choices on many levels: first of all, wanting to direct this film,” he said. I accepted that even though we don’t have a Congress government… I had earlier talked about the film Kissa Kursi Ka. No one has seen that film till date and later they burnt all the prints. Moreover, no one made films about Mrs. Gandhi. Seeing the Emergency, today’s generation will be surprised wondering how it became like this; After all, she became PM thrice. I underestimated things and thought that I would be saved by making a film on the Emergency.
