“I had saved money for the child. I did not know she would die,” said a tearful father of a 12-day-old baby who died in a massive fire at a child care centre in Delhi on Saturday night.
The fathers of both the children killed in the incident shared their grief and said that they came to know about the incident from the news and friends.
At least seven children died in a fire at Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi. Five children are undergoing treatment in another hospital.

“I was not aware of the incident. A friend told me that there was an explosion at the child care centre. I did not receive any information from the hospital or the police. I called the hospital but no one picked up the phone and then I reached here,” Anjan’s father told PTI.
The father blamed the hospital and nursing home that referred him.
He said he was depositing 10 to 15 thousand rupees are being spent daily for the treatment of the child and till now about 10 lakh rupees have been collected. Rs 2 lakh
“I had no idea she wouldn’t be alive at the time of the visitation at 2pm on Sunday.
The grieving father has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to ensure justice. He said, “I had saved money for the girl. I did not know that she would die.”

Hrithik, a resident of Bulandshahr and a farmer by profession, who is the father of a 9-day-old baby, said he came to know about the incident through the news.
“My baby had oxygen issues. He was admitted to the hospital on May 20. I came to know about the incident through the news. The baby was nine days old,” Hrithik said.
He said that till now he has spent Rs 70,000 to 80,000 and the hospital is responsible for it.
Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal assured strict action against those responsible for the negligence.
Meanwhile, Delhi Fire Brigade Director Atul Garg said there was a strong possibility that the child care centre did not have a no-objection certificate (NOC).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh. The next of kin of each deceased will be given an amount of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
