Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on 21 July as the Vice President of India. On Monday night, 74 -year -old Dhankar resigned to President Draupadi Murmu, citing medical reasons.
The resignation of Dhankhar comes a few hours after the Rajya Sabha presided over the Rajya Sabha during the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament.
The Vice President of India is the President of Rajya Sabha.

Not the first
The word Dhankhar is not the first vice president to leave before it ends. But he, perhaps, is the first to leave citing health reasons. Dhankar made Venkaiah Naidu successful on 11 August 2022.
The Vice President holds office for five years. Therefore ideally, Dhankhar should have remained the vice president by August 2027.
Since the establishment of the post in 1952, many vice presidents of India have resigned from the post in front of him.
