Chocora Review
Cast: Roshan Mathew, Mohit Raina, Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju, Sarah Jane Dias, Ninad KAMAT, Mahesh Shetty, Heeba Shah
Director: Chandan Arora
Where to see: Sonyliv
Rating: ★★★★
In the Israeli series Magpai, the title was understood as the term is used for police informers in the west, and the hero was one. In the Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed shows, Kankajura, the hero eagerly decreases in a miliped, is a dangerous. The metaphor is also here. The more small and insignificant to the Asu is as dangerous. This story of love requires approval, and violent anger is a well -stated story, but has been performed much better. If the script tilts you, the performance blows you. And its center is all a sublime Roshan Matthew, which reminds the audience again why he is one of the best young actors in the country.
Plot
In Kankajura, Goa, there is a story of a young man Ashu (Roshan), who is released from jail after 14 years. Meanwhile, his brother Max (Mohit Raina) established a minor construction empire, but on the illegitimate foundation. Max and his companions consider Ashu as their punching bag, even the search for their approval continues. But there is much more for the ina. Humble, stuttering man is a master manpulator, and local ACP (Heba Shah) wants to exploit it. As Max and her chronies pushed the asus to the brink, it breaks, and then all the hells become loose.
How did Kankajura blow you
On the surface, there is a story about the need for Kankajura acceptance and approval. Being quite good for his brother, the passion of Ashu runs all his functions, whether it is good or bad. The script brings out this complex feeling quite well. All subtlety and complications are conveyed in a sublime manner, without the point very hard. This makes the show more reliable and of course more uncomfortable. But this discomfort is natural, because the story talks about hard emotions, which we always hide.
The show handles Ashu’s complex plans and machines very beautifully. As a clever manpulator, Ashu is always two steps ahead of all. But the show does not keep the audience in the dark. In a method for breaking a bad or better call Saul, it allows you to inside the brain of the asu because he orkestrates people around him, sometimes guided by your own bravos by dumb luck and other times. Those sequences are fun, roughly presented to them due to thrilling methods.
Roshan Matthew Show
And all this is the Sutradhar Roshan Matthew. The actor breathed a new life in this thriller style, which is a threat of oversate on OTT. Their performance is already one of the best this year, makes you feel everything for Ashu – from sympathy to hatred. And whatever Roshan has achieved in it is the beauty of it. The actor, a famous babyface, has rarely handled this dark and crooked something. But that is not only the role but also through the setup, quite innocent. Kankajura is a good show based on story and technical aspects. Roshan makes it great.
Mohit Raina is a great foil for Roshan. Light year from his Mahadev Charan, the actor shows his border as selfish and dark max, a person he can sacrifice to get what he wants. That single-mind focus should be brought without making him a conservative villain, and manages Mohit Raina. Among the rest of the artists, Mahesh Shetty (as Max’s ally Shardul) and Heba Shah (as Goa ACP) stand out.
We often hear the absence of original stories (and even critics) to the audience (and even critics). Many craings in the remake, labeled them lazy. But Kankajura is anything but lazy. It is original, also, is marrying Goa’s soul and the heart of desi storytelling with the essence of magpies. The show proves that even if correct, the remake can be one of the best shows of the year.
