Bangkok: People often go to Thailand to enjoy themselves. There is hardly any better place than this for fun. A group of men and women also went there. They booked a room in a luxurious hotel in Bangkok. Everyone had lunch together in the room. But later something happened which no one had any idea about. There was chaos in the entire hotel. Police was called in a hurry. Actually, all these people were found dead in a luxury hotel in Bangkok. According to the police, bodies of 6 people were found in the hotel. According to the forensic department chief of Thailand police, traces of ‘cyanide’ have been found in the coffee of six people found dead in a luxury hotel in Bangkok.
‘Cyanide’ is a very poisonous chemical, after consuming which it is almost impossible to survive. Six dead bodies were found on Tuesday in the ‘Grand Hyatt Erawan’ hotel located in downtown Bangkok. Police said that investigation of the hotel records revealed that there was no outsider other than the six people in the room. They said that they were last seen alive on Monday afternoon when food was delivered to their room. Their voices were heard. When no sound was heard for a long time and no one came out, suspicion arose. On opening the gate, all were found dead.
Lieutenant General Trirong Piwapan, head of the Thai police forensic department, said police found traces of cyanide in empty cups seized from the room. A preliminary post-mortem report is expected on Thursday. Bangkok police chief Lieutenant General Thiti Sangsawang said the dead have been identified as two Vietnamese-Americans and four as Vietnamese citizens. He said the dead included three men and three women.
Citing information received from relatives of the victims, Bangkok Deputy Police Chief Noppasin Punsawat said, “This case may be related to money, which was invested by a couple in one of these six. The couple felt that their money was not being used properly.” Noppasin said that the Vietnamese and US embassies have been contacted regarding this incident and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is also involved in the investigation. He said, “This matter appears to be personal and it will not affect the safety of tourists.”
Bangkok’s deputy police chief Trirong said that this case does not appear to be a mass suicide, because some of them had made elaborate plans for their trip. They had even hired guides and drivers for the trip. He said that the bodies were not recovered from the same place, some were recovered from the bedroom and some from other places. Trirong said that this shows that they did not consume poison intentionally.
