The company has no intention of launching its electric cars in India right now. Officials of Xiaomi India have clarified that the company’s EV trade scheme will be mainly focused on China for the next 2-3 years. Although the SU7 has been displayed at the auto show in India, the possibility of sales start is less before 2027. The Xiaomi officials have already made it clear that the company is currently studying the policies of the Indian EV market and the government and is not in a hurry.
First electric sedan created sensation
Xiaomi’s first electric car was SU7, a full-size for-door fastback sedan. It was first displayed in December 2023 and was formally launched in March 2024. As soon as it was launched, it created panic in the market. The car obtained 90,000 orders in the first 24 hours of launch and received a total of 2,48,000 lock-in orders by 2024. SU7 is available in four variants- SU7, SU7 Pro, SU7 Max and SU7 Ultra. SU7 has hit Tesla Model 3 thanks to high performance, long range and Hyperos integration of Xiaomi.
First electric SUV launched in June 2025
Xiaomi launched its first electric SUV YU7, in June 2025. This SUV is available in three variants – Yu7 (2,53,500 yuan), YU7 Pro (2,79,900 yuan), and Yu7 Max (3,29,900 yuan). After the launch, 2,00,000 pre-order and 2,89,000 orders were received in just three minutes within an hour. The range of Yu7 is up to 835 km, which is more than Tesla Model Y. Its high power (up to 690 bhp) and fast charging gives it an important place in the premium SUV segment.
Yu9 will be launched next year
Xiaomi will launch Yu9 in 2026. This will be a range-exposed electric vehicle (EREV) SUV, with a 1.5-liter turbo engine generator. This model will compete with models like L9 and Aito M9 of brands like Volvo and BMW.
