Despite this, the ground reality is telling something else. According to the ICMR report, TB prevention treatment (TPT) of 66 percent of children has not been started in the families of TB patients. Many reasons are coming up in making this disease serious. In this, the non -availability of medicine is a big reason. Let’s know what the report says-

According to the report of the Indian Pediatric Journal (ICMR), TB prevention treatment (TPT) of 66 percent of the children in the families of TB patients has not been started. Only 22 percent of the children did the full course, while 82 percent of the families did not even inform the health workers about this course.

These reasons are making the disease serious

According to the report, families of about two and a half thousand TB patients were included in the survey. There have been many reasons for not taking medicines in most of it. Such as lack of awareness, lack of drug availability and fear of TB etc. According to doctors, carelessness towards TB can seriously give the disease serious.

Why TPT is necessary

People with preventable treatment (TPT) infections have a higher risk of developing TB disease. However, this risk depends on many factors, the most important of which is their immune system condition. TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) is given to those who have come in contact with a TB patient, but have not yet infected. This drug helps prevent infection from growing, especially in children, because their immunity is weak.

Main problems regarding treatment

Fear-tolerances: Many families feel that taking medicines even without having TB can cause side effects on children. According to the survey, in 82 percent of cases, paramedical employees did not inform the families about TPT.

lack of awareness: 82 percent of the families did not know that medicines are given to prevent TB. 9 percent of the parents felt that the medicine was not necessary. In 3 percent of cases, parents were afraid of side effects.

Non -availability of medicine: Due to lack of medicine in some areas, the treatment of children could not start on time. Information was given in 19 percent of cases, but TPT medicine was not found.
