Police have registered a case against two teachers of a government school in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior city after a Class 9 student allegedly tried to commit suicide following harassment, officials said on Wednesday.
An official said the incident took place on November 8 but the case was registered on Tuesday after the student’s statement was recorded.
Additional Superintendent of Police Krishna Lalchandani said that a 14-year-old boy studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 located in Maharajpura police station area allegedly drank phenyl to commit suicide.
He told that before consuming the chemical substance, he had left an alleged suicide note.
After the boy recovered, his statement was recorded, in which he accused the two teachers of harassing him, the officer said.
He said that after this a case was registered against both the teachers under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Further legal steps are being taken, the official said.
