In 2025, President Draupadi Murmu honored him with the Shaurya Chakra for this unique courage and understanding. This is India’s third largest peace carpet valor award. Earlier too, Wing Commander Vernon has received an air service medal in 2017, when he handled a double engine fire in Jamnagar.
