Which foods help prevent cancer?
“Particular foods that help prevent cancer are vegetables and fruits. Whole grains not only reduce the risk of cancer but also reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes,” Dr Sharmin said.
He elaborated on the powerful compounds found in plant-based foods: “Fruits and vegetables contain a class of compounds called phytochemicals. Typically, we label food in terms of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Of these, polyphenols are important, they have antioxidant properties, which we get from fruits and vegetables.”
Why should you include fruits in your diet?
Highlighting the importance of fruits in particular, Dr. Yaqin said, “Fruits are especially important because they taste naturally sweet, making them easy to include in our diets. Polyphenols in fruits play an important role, they contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help eliminate free radicals that are constantly produced in our bodies, neutralizing their harmful effects Are.”
