Udaipur. Now something new is going to be added to the excitement of tourists in Udaipur, the city of lakes. There are plans to start boating in Jaisamand lake here. This is the world’s largest freshwater lake. 2000 tourists come here every day for a visit. But they are unable to enjoy boating. There are plans to remove this pain of the tourists. After Siliserh in Alwar and Kaylana in Jodhpur, this will be the third lake where RTDC is launching this facility.
Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Limited (RTDC) will organize boating in Jaisamand lake. Its tenders can be done after the end of the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections. The corporation is providing boating and water sports facilities to tourists in the state. Under this, preparations are on to get the boating contract done to increase tourism in Jaisamand. The department had given information about the boating project in the progress report of the last financial year.
2000 tourists come every day
There is a daily footfall of 1800 to 2000 tourists on Jaisamand lake. At present, 5 boats are being operated in the lake by the committees of 3 villages including Baba Magra, Gamdi. The forest department is also operating 2 boats. Tourism is expected to increase with the start of boating in Jaisamand because it is a part of the wildlife sanctuary. Recently, leopard safari has also been started in this sanctuary.
350 year old heritage hotel
Jaisamand Lake is recognized as the world’s largest freshwater lake. Tourists come to see this lake. Boating is the main attraction here. There is also an RTDC hotel on the lake’s bank. It has 11 rooms and a restaurant. This hotel has been closed for 18 years. Actually, this construction is more than 350 years old and is related to heritage. In August 2021, the leaseholder of the hotel tried to make a pool by cutting the hill. Therefore the lease was canceled.
