Most of us have been on that frustrating rollercoaster where the weight goes up and down constantly, one week you’re disciplined in terms of food and workouts, the next week life derails you. Although many people dismiss it as normal, frequent weight gain and loss can actually affect your body in ways you might not expect.
Celebrity fitness trainer Vinod Channa, who helped Anant Ambani and Nita Ambani in their weight loss journey, in his November 21 Instagram post explained whether this cycle of weight fluctuations is really healthy and what effect it has on your metabolism, muscles and overall health. How does body fat loss actually occur?
“How does it happen? It’s simple science. There’s nothing complicated or ‘rocket science’ about it that you wouldn’t understand,” explains Vinod, explaining the science behind fat loss and muscle building.
He continues, “What actually happens in the body? The human body begins to use stored fat for energy. This is why people start looking more muscular. First, they progressively increase their weight-training and follow high-intensity workloads. They lift heavy weights and reduce their cardio. Cardio only burns calories when you do that, but heavy training creates enough stimulation and burns calories effectively.”
Why is balance the key to effective fat loss?
According to Vinod, the key is in balance. “Wherever there is a need, they increase strength training. This gets a good response from the body and the fat starts to go away faster. But the body may not always respond in the same way. If it does not respond well, they adjust the workout pattern, either increasing or decreasing it. They balance it.”
He adds that nutrition also plays an equally important role. “This whole system works by balancing the body’s reactions and increasing or decreasing food intake. It’s science. They’re using this science and there have been no side effects seen to date.”
