Khaleda Zia’s BNP is currently the strongest party in Bangladesh. It is considered almost certain that he will win the elections and form the government. Despite this, BNP opposed the ban on Awami League and believed that there is a need for political inclusion in the country. The BNP argues that all urgent political reforms should be completed before the elections and the legitimacy of Awami League’s participation in politics should be considered. Mohammad Yunus is currently on the back foot due to Khalda and Company’s stand regarding Sheikh Hasina’s party.

BNP general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Wednesday, “Awami League is a political party and people will decide whether they will contest the elections or not. Those who committed murders and looted the country’s wealth abroad should be brought under the ambit of the law. They should be prosecuted and punished. Meanwhile, BNP President Khaleda Zia is scheduled to attend the reception of Armed Forces Day on Thursday. This will be his first participation in a state program since he was jailed in February 2018.
