WWE star John Cena announced his retirement from professional wrestling on Saturday, marking the end of one of the most distinguished careers in WWE history. Cena’s departure marks the end of an era that defined modern sports entertainment. In the final match, Cena lost to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.
Speaking to Tom Rinaldi in an interview for WWE earlier this week, Cena said, “I decided to retire. I promised WWE that I wouldn’t stop there when my skills can’t match the product, and they can’t. I’m 48 years old. My 40-yard dash is over. [down]I can’t match the product anymore, and that’s okay, because what I do isn’t who I am, Realizing that has helped me think about, no, let these guys have it right now because they’re really good, If I go any further than this, I will only be doing a disservice to the consumer,
Indian and international celebs took to social media to post about the incident-
Varun Dhawan shared a picture of himself posing on Instagram Stories while Cena’s entry song ‘You Can’t See Me’ played in the background. He later posted another story with pictures from Cena’s final match.
Posting a video on Instagram Stories, Lilly Singh said, “Obviously I’m gearing up for John Cena’s last match and I’m going down memory lane when I did my 12 collabs. John Cena himself came to my house. No publicist, no agent, no manager, drove himself. The most down-to-earth celeb I’ve worked with. Obviously I don’t see you – but I see you.” He also posted a video with ‘You Can’t See Me’ playing in the background.
Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock posted on Congratulations on your historic and extraordinary @wwe career, my Triand. Have fun, tear it up, and as always, “Thanks for the house.” He also posted a video thanking Cena for his contributions to the wrestling world.
Undertaker posted, “Good job. These were the same words I said to you 23 years ago when you debuted. Now, on the day of your final match, I say it again… good job. Enthusiasm, loyalty and respect are more than just a catchphrase. For 23 years you have lived by those words. Your passion for our business and dedication to our fan base is unmatched. John Cena’s desi connection
Cena has mentioned his admiration for Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan. He has also expressed his desire to work on film projects with these actors. Cena has also expressed interest in Bollywood music, especially the energy and spectacle that comes with dance numbers in films. Some of his Instagram posts have also indicated a deep respect for the extravagant, colorful nature of Bollywood films.
During an AMA session on X in November, Shah Rukh Khan was asked by a fan to describe Cena in one word. The Bollywood star took the opportunity to praise the wrestler-turned-actor, saying, “He is a rock star. Very humble and kind.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared screenspace with Cena in the film Heads of State, which released in July this year.
