In an interview given to SCREEN, Bobby Deol said, ‘I was 5-6 years old. I always wanted to become an actor. At that time my father was doing the film ‘Dharam Veer’ and he wanted a child who looked like him. A child with big and strong legs, but they were not able to find such a child. He was finding very weak children. Then he thought why not ask his son. He asked me, will you act in my film, will you play my childhood role? I said yes I will. When you are a child, you have no hesitation, no fear, you just think that life is beautiful.

Interesting story told about dress
After this, Bobby Deol talked about the black leather dress in which he was seen in the film. She said, ‘They made this dress for me overnight, because I had to shoot the next day. In those days I did not wear underwear. When I was shooting, they made me wear this dress and I was wondering why are they making me wear the dress? I asked Bhanwarlal, who worked with my father. Bhanwarlal I don’t have tights, how will I wear it? She gave me a pair of shorts to wear under the dress.

Dharmendra had demanded fees from his father
Bobby Deol told that he had asked his father Dharmendra for money to work in the film ‘Dharam Veer’. He said, ‘I created a scene and asked my father where is my money? I have worked, I want my money. He said, come, I will give it to you, keep quiet. He was not able to understand what to say because the producer and director of the film were standing there. I sat in the car and he gave me a bundle of Rs 10,000 and said go give it to your grandmother and see that it is distributed among the staff.

Bobby Deol got special award
He further said, ‘I went home very excited and feeling proud of myself. I gave the money to my grandmother so that she could distribute it. I was so excited that I broke many hangers in the house so that I could show my sisters and aunts what I did in the film. I was on top of the world. When the film had its golden jubilee, I went to the award ceremony. He had made a special award for me in my name.
