Renowned for creating dreamlike watches and jewellery, iconic luxury watch brand Jacob & Co. has announced a new partnership with the “Legendary” Salman Khan and we can’t wait to see the launch of his collection. Enjoying a reputation for breaking new ground in high end watchmaking, using traditional methods to create radical new timepieces, the brand is named after Jacob & Co. founder and chairman Jacob Arabo.
On his social media handle, actor Salman Khan also shared a picture with Jacob Arabo showing him flaunting a limited edition luxury watch that is built, works and looks like a motor engine or looks, feels, operates and excites like a 300+ mph hypercar. The eye-catching accessory comes in a rose gold colour and openwork rubber strap while its automaton is a direct reference to Bugatti’s W16 engine block and its power reserve is like a fuel gauge, its tourbillon carriage is like a radiator, its structure is like an exhaust pipe.
Before you wonder why, let us tell you that the brand has taken inspiration from the exterior shape of the Bugatti Chiron that exudes power and performance, to create the case of the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon watch. In other words, the cutting-edge principles and designs of Bugatti automobiles inspired Jacob & Co. to unprecedented levels of innovation and watchmaking complexity and entered into a partnership agreement in 2019 to create unrivalled hypercar-inspired watches.
With the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon, car-inspired watch design is taken to a new level as it is built around a movement that challenges conventional rules as the Calibre JCAM37 features a unique architecture, inspired by Bugatti’s engines and features a small, W-shaped, 16-cylinder, engine block automaton while its mounted four-coiled springs act as shock absorbers. A tubular structure encloses the 30-degree-inclined flying tourbillon, like a protective frame.
Posing with Jacob while showing off a watch to announce the recent partnership, Salman captioned the picture, “Shaking hands with my dear friend @jacobarabo announcing my new partnership with @jacobandco Salman Khan – Jacob & Co watches coming soon” and actor Ranveer Singh promptly commented, “Hella, Jacob bhai ki toh nikal padi”, punctuating it with a smile and a heart emoji.
Recently, at a wedding function of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, Salman was spotted wearing the same Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Rose Gold watch which reportedly costs $3,90,000 or more. About Rs 3.2 crores.
The large single block of transparent sapphire in the watch recreates the layout of the famous W16 Bugatti engine and at the press of a button, its 16 pistons fire up and down in their sapphire cylinders, driven by a single-block crankshaft. During a 15-second animation sequence, the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon comes to life.
