George Clooney is sure that it knows how to pay back – and it is as literal as it gets!
Only a friend who comes in need is a true friend.
While at one time it was Hollywood’s Hall of Fame veteran George Clooney, who was friends in need, despite the actor, tripling on success and praise, could not forget those who were there through thick and thin for them, they became an institution in their own name.
Back in 2013, far beyond his days of struggle, George decided to pay all this back – and quite literally on it. He bought 14 posh Tumi suitcases and filled each of them with one million dollars. He then descended down to plan a dinner party with 14 recipients – his closest friend in 35 years – and surprised him on the spot. And if you are thinking, George ensured to pay the necessary taxes on the bounty amount, making it ensure that the million-dollar gifts were no less than a penny.
What was pushed to work with this big, small gesture but?
In an interview with GQ, George reflected, “I fell asleep on his couch when I was broken. When I broke, they lended me money. They helped me when I needed help for years. And I have helped him over years”. He continued, “I had just kept a map and I pointed to all the places that I had met to go to the world and I have seen all the things that I have seen because of them. And I said, ‘How can you repay people this way?’
Randy Garber, one of George’s 14 colleagues, shared back with MSNBC in 2017 how gesture, “sung too much which is George”. Randy recalled George, saying, “I know that we are all through some difficult times, some of you are still going through it. You don’t have to worry about your children; you don’t have to worry about school; you don’t have to worry about paying your mortgage”.
What do you think about George’s grand gesture for your friends?
