Our universe is filled with countless stars that keep shining throughout their lifetime. After maintaining their brightness for millions and sometimes billions of years, these stars reach their final destination. Scientists call this phenomenon a supernova.
As the name suggests, a supernova is not just the death of a star, but the most spectacular, awe-inspiring moment of its life, which begins when the celestial body exhausts all its nuclear fuel and begins to collapse due to its own gravity. After the contraction comes a moment when the dying star releases all its energy in a giant explosion, called a supernova.

This supernova led to the birth of Cassiopeia A (Cas A). Ideally, the supernova spewed elements such as calcium and iron into interstellar space, giving birth to new generations of stars and planets. It is the youngest known remnant of an exploded, massive star in our galaxy.
