Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said 26,500 youth have secured government jobs in Uttarakhand in the last four years, more than double the total under the previous administration.
Dhami made the remarks while distributing appointment letters to 1,456 newly selected candidates, including 109 review officers and assistant review officers selected through the State Public Service Commission and 1,347 assistant teachers (LTs) selected through the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission.
He said that during the earlier regime, recruitment processes were full of corruption, rigging and bribery and fraud mafia had flourished.
He said the strict anti-fraud laws brought in by his government have made the system transparent, which has helped deserving candidates secure many posts on the basis of merit.
Dhami said, “These are not just figures; these are direct evidence. The number of jobs we have provided in four years is more than double the total jobs provided by previous governments since the creation of the state.”
He claimed that the opposition is not happy because children from ordinary families are now getting government jobs purely on the basis of merit.
He said, “Some of our opposition colleagues are quick to criticize us on every issue. They create false debate because they have no truth to tell. There is no issue at all.”
Dhami also referred to a recent incident in Haridwar, where a candidate had allegedly sent 12 questions from an examination center to his sister through mobile phone and said it was wrongly portrayed as a paper leak to mislead the youth.
He said, when he agreed to a CBI inquiry on the demand of the students, the same people accused him of giving in.
The Chief Minister reiterated that his government is committed to protecting the future of the youth and will not allow any conspiracy to succeed.
Last month, three pages of a question paper were leaked during the graduate level examination of Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission, following which protests had erupted. The exam was later canceled and a CBI inquiry was ordered.
