Bokaro: You must have eaten many biscuits, but this biscuit is very special. Be it the scorching heat or the freezing cold. 65-year-old Arjun Barnwal of Bokaro still sells biscuits made of flour with a box on his back in the streets. In an exclusive conversation with Local 18, the elderly Arjun told that he has been selling biscuits for the past 45 years. Everyone from children to adults come to buy biscuits from him and lovingly call him Biscuit Wale Dada.
Biscuits are available in these flavors
They have coconut biscuits made from flour, salty crispy biscuits, cardamom flavored biscuits, Nankhatai biscuits, sweet biscuits and toast biscuits. The price of all these biscuits is Rs 180 per kg and they sell at Rs 2 to Rs 5 per piece.
Arjun told that he prepares Nankhatai and crispy sweet biscuits at home. He buys flavoured biscuits like coconut and toast biscuits, cardamom flavour biscuits from the bakery. He roams around in the areas of Chas, Chandankyari of Bokaro and sells them.
This is how biscuits are prepared
Talking about the recipe of flour biscuits, Arjun said that first of all sugar is powdered and mixed well with ghee. Then flour, gram flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt are mixed and kneaded well. Then biscuits are prepared by burning wood fire in a big iron pan. Arjun said that he sells 30 kg of biscuits daily. He has the highest demand for cardamom flower biscuits. He earns from Rs 500 to Rs 700 per day.
