Right lane on expressway: With the construction of expressways and highways in the country, it has become easier to travel from one place to another, but the number of accidents occurring on them has also increased rapidly. Vehicles move at very high speed on the expressway. Because of this, even a small mistake can cause a major accident.
Lanes are made on the highways so that vehicles can move without colliding with each other. These lanes indicate that vehicles have to drive in their lane while maintaining speed. Due to this, vehicles running at different speeds move without colliding with each other. However, if the driver is not aware of the lane then an accident can occur. Recently, a video of a police officer is going viral on social media in which he is seen telling which vehicles should drive in which lane.
Trucks were driving in the wrong lane
This video going viral was recorded on the Agra-Lucknow 6-lane expressway, in which a police officer is seen giving information about the correct lane. This video has been uploaded from the handle of UP Police officer Afaq Khan, in which he tells that truck drivers are not aware of the correct lane, hence they keep moving in the wrong lane which is dangerous for other vehicles. It can be seen in the video that he is asking some trucks to move in the right lane.
Separate lane for heavy vehicles
Separate lanes are made for heavy vehicles on roads like highways and expressways. Its information can be seen on the signboard at the entry of the highway. According to which, the lane on the leftmost side of the road which is inside the yellow line is the service lane. You can stop your vehicle at this point. In this lane, the vehicle can be parked in case of breakdown or it can be stopped due to any emergency.
After the yellow line, the first lane from the left side of the road is for trucks and heavy vehicles. After this, the second lane (middle lane) is for light vehicles like car, SUV, mini bus, mini truck. The last lane on the right side of the road is for overtaking. Vehicles moving at high speed are advised to overtake from this lane.
Should not overtake from left side
Many people overtake people from anywhere while driving. Doing this can lead to accidents. In India, vehicles are right hand drive with steering on the right side. Therefore, it is considered safe to overtake vehicles from the right side.
