The Bangalore-based EV Startup River has rolled out a new ownership-centric initiative for Indie owners, providing a warranty of an expanded 8-year/80,000 km on its flagship scooter, The River Indie’s battery and motor. This step strengthens the emphasis of the brand at reliability, customer trust and long -term value.
The program set to be effective from October 1 will cover both new booking and existing customers. Owners who had previously opted for the company’s 5-year extended warranty can upgrade the new 8-year plan within a special one month window. Price of 8,399 + GST for new buyers – and 3,399 + GST-Welfare for upgrade ensures coverage if the health status of the battery (SOH) falls below 70% or if the motor becomes non-functional after repair efforts.
Speaking at the launch, River’s service head, Sachin Patiel said: “We are excited to present this extended warranty initiative, which outlines our strong belief in the quality of the river engineering and product. Today’s consumers give importance to long -term trust and dependence, and aims to cover both batteries and motors with this 8 -year warranty.”

Last year, River introduced a major upgrade with a chain drive with a segment-first single-speed gearbox. This setup improves durability, reduces the cost of ownership, and simplifies repair. The scooter is introduced in five colors. They are monsoon blue, red in summer, spring yellow, winter white and storm gray. The design looks rugged, utility-focused design with twin-beam LED headlamps, crash guards, alloy wheels and hard panier mounts. Practicality remains a highlight, offering 55 liters of lockable storage split, with a wide floorboard between the underest compartment and glovebox and 14 inch wheels for versatile radiability. Powering Indie is a 6.7 kW motor, producing 26 Nm of torque, paired with 4 kWh battery that leads to 120 km range and 90 km per hour top speed.
