On Friday, 17 -year -old Dekhat Raju, a second -year -old student of a second year at a private college in Miyapur, was found dead at his Chanda Nagar residence. The police suspect the boy who is facing the upcoming intermediate examinations on 5 March, he died due to excessive stress. He was alone at home and found hanging from a roof fan, reported NDTV.
Barely 24 hours later, Vaishnavi, a first year BSc student at Sri Chaitanya College, Hyderabad, was at her Naraspur house for Shivaratri ceremony. Medak’s girl was allegedly worried about her exam. The report said that he locked himself in a room and died of suicide on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court expressed deep concern for recent suicides in IITs and IIMs, Calling them “very unfortunate”. The court promised to install a strong mechanism to resolve the issue.
Senior Advocate Indira Jaising informed the bench, which included Justice Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh, that 18 students in these institutions died of suicide in the last 14 months. The bench assured that they were committed to finding a resolution for this problem.
Representing the Center, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the University Grants Commission (UGC) is addressing the draft rules and addressing the concerns raised by the petitioners. These drafts open for public response are available on the UGC website.
Senior advocate Indira Jaising highlighted that a significant number of institutions, 40% universities and 80% colleges, still need to install equal opportunity cells. Accepting the submission, the bench directed the UGC to review the suggestions received on the draft rules and to invite the input from joying and other petitioners.
