The Government of Tamil Nadu is ready to conduct the rights for education (RTE) admission for the current academic year from October 6 to October 17, according to times of India Report. This Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav comes a few days after it is transferred 489 crore to 20,652 private schools were admitted by private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 as a fee reimbursement for 8.45 lakh students.
According to the report, RTE entry will be conducted through an online portal. 25% RTE seats will be identified, with priority to orphans, children of transgender children, scavengers and different children, with priority to different children. More than 6,000 private schools will upload their total seats filled with entry level classes.

This figure includes reimbursement for RTE admission for the previous academic session. Therefore, the state government delayed RTE admission to private schools for 2025-26 due to lack of funds for reimbursement.
TOI quoted the school’s education secretary B Chandra Mohan as saying, “The Government of India has now released money, which has started RTE entry in TN for 2025-26.” After proceedings before the Madras High Court and later before the Supreme Court, the Center issued funds.
The Central Government’s press release said, “The issue was investigated with the approval of the Union Education Minister, and it was decided that it was done to issue funds for the RTE Entitetelements constituent of Samagra Shikha to implement the directions of Madras HC.”
This comes after the TN High Court considering the Union Government to end the money and consider the RTE component of the overall Shikha.
Report states that the project approval board approved 604 crores for the previous academic session under RTE, of which central shares (60%) are 362 crores. among 585 crores approved by the board for the current academic session, There are 351 crore central shares. Center has been asked to pay 175cr for 2025-26 in two installments. According to sources, the state government received 362.8 crore for 2024-25 and 87.8 crore for 2025-26.
