Actor Tamannaah Bhatia’s skin is so healthy and stunning that you will not think twice before adopting any skincare hack that he can throw at you. Except, perhaps you need.
Tamannaah Bhatia’s strange skincare hack
In a recent interview with Lallantop, he was asked about his hack to fix the pimples, and his reply shocked the audience. “Spit, spit,” he said, as the people around him gave disgusting expression. The hosts laugh and Tamannaah doubled their opinion. He focused on the silence in the room and said, very fact-tantha, “It works!”
This is not even the first time that he has made saliva the champion as his acne fixer. In an interview to Pinkvilla in 2021, Tamanna said that saliva helps, but encouraged young women to consult medical professionals in case of continuous issues.
He had said, “The most strange thing I have applied is also not strange. It’s like the earth-clan with apple cider vinegar. I think it’s so strange because I don’t remember how I was convinced on my face.”
He continued, “It probably comes under your question ‘What is the most strange thing on your face’ but the fact is your own saliva, which is in the morning, your ability to dry really … it seems a bit gross, but it actually works.”
What do doctors say?
However, doctors may not agree. In a video that he shared in December 2024, AIMS Dermatologist Dr. Gargi Taneja rejected the myth that the saliva could help in curing pimples.
He said, “It is a common misconception that the application of saliva on your pimples as well as rubbing it on your face can cause healthy and glowing skin and can also reduce acne. It should not be done as it may have a lot of side effects compared to benefits.”
He said, “In our saliva, due to unhealthy oral condition, poor dental hygiene, a lot of unhealthy bacterial proliferation, the pH of saliva is acidic rather than being alkaline. So when we apply this acidic saliva to the face, it can harm your acne. You can cause a lot of infections.
He further explained in the caption of his post, “It is a bad idea to use human saliva for acne:
1. Risk of bacteria: You have bacteria in the mouth that can spoil acne and cause infection.
2. Burning: Saliva enzymes can irritate your skin, which can cause more redness and brakeouts.
3. PH imbalance: The pH of saliva can disrupt the natural balance of your skin, causing worse acne.
4. Unnecessary: Saliva lacks the properties required to treat acne effectively.
5. Unhealthy: Applying saliva can introduce more impurities, further your skin may deteriorate.
