Netflix has released the final trailer for the final episode of the final season of Stranger Things. The children prepare to face Vecna for the last time as he unleashes the wrath of two worlds colliding on Hawkins.
Stranger Things finale trailer out
Netflix called it “one last trailer”. It shows snippets of all the adventures Eleven and her gang have had over the past five seasons and sneak peeks of what’s to come. Hopper inspires him to fight one last time, for his friends and for the days that await them after it’s all over. Dustin yells and fights because there’s a chance someone he loves gets hurt (please don’t be Steve). Ultimately (spoilers if you haven’t seen the rest of the season yet), Vecna’s world falls upon Hawkins, as the children watch in horror.
The official synopsis for the finale episode reads, “Stranger Things finale trailer out: Prepare for the final battle as worlds collide.”
Fans are eagerly waiting for the finale but are also emotional about the end of the show. “Please don’t make Game of Thrones end like that…” read one comment on YouTube. Another wrote: “Thank you Stranger Things for an amazing ten years.”
One fan wrote, “Dustin screaming about being held from behind is really scaring me, the main character better not die.” “It’s really the end of an era, it’s goodbye.”
What’s in store for the finale?
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers, told The Hollywood Reporter that after working for a long time on ‘Stranger Things 5,’ they are now ready to wrap up the story.
Matt Duffer shared that the team did not want to “surprise” fans just for the sake of impact. He clarified that there won’t be any sudden or violent twists that upset fans, like the famous “Red Wedding” moment from ‘Game of Thrones’.
“There’s not going to be a Red Wedding situation,” Matt Duffer said. “We’re not trying to surprise or upset anyone. I hope that by the time people get to the end of the finale, they’ll feel like there’s something inevitable about what’s happening.”
The creators also explained how they worked to keep the ending a secret. When asked about security and leaks, Matt Duffer explained that they kept things simple but careful, avoiding fake endings and focusing on tight control of the actual script.
“To keep it a secret? Well, we didn’t shoot many endings. I don’t know how anyone has time to do something like that to trick people. But we had a really good security team, and they tried their best to keep the paparazzi away. The final script was printed on red paper, but only the ending, because getting a red script is annoying.”
Stranger Things 5 Vol. 2 was released on Netflix on Christmas, after Vol. 1 Released on 26 November. The final episode will stream on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31 at 8 PM ET. The final episode, Stranger Things: The Finale, The Right Side Up, has been extended slightly and will now run at two hours and eight minutes, up from the previously announced two hours and five minutes.
