Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced changes in the disability certificate formats that candidates need to submit for SSC exams. The decision follows the new guidelines issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD).

As per SSC notice (F.No. 02/1/2022-RHQ), the format of disability certificates has now been revised in line with the DEPwD notification dated October 16, 2024. Under the updated system, disability certificates will be issued in two formats:
Form V – Disability Certificate (for single disability)
Form VI – Disability Certificate (for multiple disabilities)
These two updated formats will replace three old forms – Form V, Form VI and Form VII, which were earlier used by the Commission in several recruitment notifications.
SSC has clarified that the revised formats have been formally introduced and the updated version is attached with the notice for the reference of the candidates.
The Commission has also taken note of the ongoing recruitment cycles. For all SSC exams where notices were issued after October 16, 2024 and the recruitment process is still going on, candidates will be allowed to submit their disability certificates in any format. This means that candidates can submit:
New Form V or Form VI notified by DEPwD on 16.10.2024, or
Old certificate formats that were in use before the change.
This flexibility will help candidates who already have disability certificates issued in previous formats and have not yet obtained the new DEPWD-notified version.
The update by SSC ensures uniformity in documentation along with avoiding inconvenience to the candidates participating in the currently ongoing recruitment processes.
