According to a senior officer of the Air Intelligence Unit posted at Mumbai airport, three people were taken into custody in this case, who were identified as Yusuf Noor (37), Sameer (42) and Sabith (29). Yusuf and Sameer are residents of Delhi, while Sabith is from Kerala. During interrogation, all three have confessed their crime, after which they have been arrested.

This is how the accused were caught by the agencies
At around 2:15 am, a person coming out of the arrival terminal of Mumbai airport was stopped by the customs officials for checking. During the search of the baggage, 10 packets of cornflakes, roasted corn, cake etc. were recovered from his bag. When the customs officer picked up these packets of breakfast items with his hand, he felt that their weight was much less than the normal.

A senior officer of AIU said that it was at this point that the customs officer got suspicious and started opening these breakfast packets. As the packets were being opened, the eyes of the passengers present there including the customs were getting wide open. Actually, a strange thing of dark green colour was coming out from inside these packets. On investigation, it was found that this thing was nothing but marijuana.

The accused had reached Mumbai airport from Bangkok
According to a senior AIU official, the first person to be spotted was named Yusuf Noor. He had arrived at Mumbai airport by Air India flight from Bangkok. About five kilograms of marijuana has been recovered from his possession, which is worth about Rs 5 crore. On the information provided by Yusuf Noor, two accused related to this case have been arrested from outside the terminal. Both of them were identified as Sameer and Sabith. Both of them had reached the airport to take delivery of marijuana from Yusuf.
