Actress Smriti Irani has credited her husband Zubin Irani for introducing her to many Bollywood stars including Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan. Recalling one of those meetings, she said that she first met Salman when he was scolded by his father and veteran writer Salim Khan.

When Smriti appeared in an episode of The Bombay Journey on Mashable India’s YouTube channel, she recalled the meeting of Salman Khan and his father Salim. She gave the credit of this meeting to her husband Zubin Irani.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Smriti said, “At St. i there Was standing silently and both Salman and my husband were looking down.
During her appearance in the episode, she also recalled meeting Shahrukh Khan while thanking her husband. The actor-politician said, “I met Shah Rukh courtesy of my husband. He knew him, so I asked him several times to ask Shah Rukh for an interview. He actually told me earlier that, ‘Listen, don’t marry. Main bata raha ho tujhse mat karna shaadi (I am telling you, don’t marry.)’ I said, ‘Bro, it’s too late.'”

Smriti Irani was born in a Marathi-Punjabi-Bengali family based in Delhi. Before entering politics he started his career as a model and actor in 1994. She gained popularity as Tulsi Virani in the popular daily soap ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. She has worked in many TV serials including Maniben.com, Teen Bahuraniyan and Kavita. She is married to businessman Zubin Irani.
Smriti joined BJP in 2003. Later, she became a member of the National Executive and exactly one year later, served as the Vice President of Maharashtra Youth Wing. She was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat in 2011 and re-elected in 2017.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she contested from Amethi against the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi but lost the election. In 2019, she fought again and reached the Lok Sabha by defeating Gandhi. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress fielded KL Sharma from Amethi, who defeated Smriti.
She recently returned to the small screen as Tulsi Virani through the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi reboot. Amar Upadhyay also reprized his role as Mihir. This serial airs on Star Plus and streams on JioHotstar.
