Shogun 2: The new chapter will continue the historically inspired saga of Lord Tornaaga and John Blackthorn, whose fate is unbreakable.
FX has revealed more information about the upcoming second season of its Amy-winning drama series Shogun, which will start filming in January 2026. Cosmo Jarvis has closed a deal to resume his role as the English pilot John Blackthorn, which are joining the herouki Sanada, who will return as Lord Yoshi Torrenga. The second season will be “a full original new chapter for the first season” 10 years after the events of the first season. The new chapter will continue the historically inspired saga of Lord Tornaaga and John Blackthorn, whose fate is unbreakable.
According to the deadline, the production on season 2 was slated to start in Vancouver in January, where the first installment was shot.
Heroyuki Sanada is designed for the executive manufacturer for season 2, and Cosmo Jarvis will join the series building rank as co-executive manufacturer.
The series creators Rachel Kondo and Justin Marx have talked about the challenges of imagining a second season without a blueprint, as none of other novels in James Clavel’s Asian saga are none as Shogun.
However, he has revealed that he bowed to the Shogun novel, including the elements and characters that were not used in season 1.
FX President John Landgraph revealed that there is no plan to do a back-to-back film on the second and third season, and that a third Shogun installment is not a lock.
“I don’t know that we are certain that there will be three sessions, but in reality in history by looking at the characters that are being depicted here, in a fictional way, it still seems to us that the correct number of season -like seasons is really to do it,” he said.
