The high consumption of UPF is associated with 32 different diseases, including heart disease, obesity, diabetes, certain types of cancer and depression.
For the first time, this study has estimated UPF intake burden on premature deaths due to all reasons in different countries, indicating that the mortality rate responsible in all settings is significant and addressing UPF consumption should be a global public nutrition priority.
