According to a press release issued by Samsung, the Solve for Tomorrow initiative aims to usher in a culture of innovative thinking and problem-solving among the youth of the country.

The latest edition was inaugurated in the presence of JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee, Senior Director and Scientist ‘G’, Ministry of Electronics and IT, and Shombi Sharp, United Nations Resident Coordinator in India. Other dignitaries.

The release said that this year the ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ program has introduced two different tracks – School Track and Youth Track, each focused on a specific theme and targeted at different age groups.

While the School Track is designed for students aged 14–17 and focuses on the theme of “Community and Inclusion”, the Youth Track caters to individuals aged 18–22, focusing on the theme of “Environment and Sustainability”. Targets.

Furthermore, the school track underlines the importance of upliftment of disadvantaged groups, improving access to health and social inclusion for all through social innovations and hence ‘solutions for India’.

Whereas, the Youth Track focuses on innovative ideas to reduce carbon footprint, protect the environment and promote sustainability and hence ‘solutions for the world’.

Applications opened on April 9 at samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow. The window will close at 5 pm on May 31.

Highlighting the initiative, JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, said that Samsung’s mission revolves around fostering the next generation of innovators and catalysts for social change. “Solve for Tomorrow is really shaping up to be a platform for the youth of India to come up with meaningful innovations that can improve people’s lives,” he said.

The CEO further informed that the CSR initiatives have had a positive impact in the first two editions and the next generation is scaling greater heights, and starting their social entrepreneurship journey.

Park said that in the third edition, Samsung wants to play an important role in strengthening the innovation ecosystem in India.

  • The opportunity to participate in a curated Innovation Walk with focused conversations with Samsung leaders and milestone-based grants for prototype development and enhancements.
  • In School Track: 10 semi-finalist teams will receive a grant of Rs 20,000 for prototype development and a Samsung Galaxy Tab. The 5 finalist teams will receive a grant of Rs 1 lakh each for prototype enhancements and Samsung Galaxy watches.
  • In Youth Track: 10 semi-finalists will receive a grant of Rs 20,000 each for prototype development and a Samsung Galaxy laptop, and 5 finalist teams will receive a grant of Rs 1 lakh each for prototype enhancement and a Samsung Z Flip smartphone.

What’s in store for the winners?

  • In the school track, the winning team will be declared the “Community Champion” of Solve for Tomorrow 2024 and will receive a seed grant of Rs 25 lakh for prototype advancement. Schools of the winning teams will also receive Samsung products to boost educational offerings, encouraging a problem-solving mindset.
  • In the Youth Track, the winning team will be declared the “Environment Champion” of Solve for Tomorrow 2024 and will receive a grant of Rs 50 lakh for incubation at IIT-Delhi. Colleges from the winning teams also receive Samsung products to promote their educational offerings and encourage social entrepreneurship.
  • The participants will also compete for prestigious awards like ‘Social Media Champion Award’ and ‘Goodwill Award’. The ‘Social Media Champion Award’ includes a prize of Rs 50000 for the Social Media Champion in each track, which will be announced at the Innovation Walk. The ‘Goodwill Award’ will honor the title winner with a prize of Rs 1 lakh for consideration of audience choice in each track, which will be announced at the grand finale.
