The Chief Minister of Punjab has introduced Sadak safe force to address road safety, in which five districts have been nominated as Red Zone.
The Punjab government headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has created a Sadak security force (SSF) to help reduce the number of road accidents, which claims many people’s lives. This force is tasked with preventing accidents, providing immediate medical aid to the injured and monitoring high -risk areas that are susceptible to road events.
These districts were kept in the red region
In view of road accidents, the Punjab government has placed five districts in Red Zone. These districts include Shri Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, Sahibjad Ajit Singh Nagar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
The SSF is ready to oversee 5,500 km (almost) of the road. To assist in this attempt, the force is equipped with advanced vehicles, including 116 Toyota Hillux and 28 Scorpioos. Additionally, around 5,000 personnel are actively deployed in the area.
Workers are being trained
All SSF personnel are currently training before their deployment to ensure that they can fulfill their responsibilities effectively and support the government’s goal of reducing road accidents. Training includes topics such as providing first aid to accident victims and offering timely health services to protect life.
After the formation of force, road accidents have decreased by 25 percent. Not only this, the number of people who lost their lives in road accidents has decreased by 45.5 percent.
Audit to achieve goals
CM Mann has set a target to reduce road accident deaths by 50%, and is currently taking initiative to reach this target. The locations identified as high-risk for accidents are being designated as black spots and receive the necessary repairs. In addition, the state government has ordered an audit to identify these black spots and ensure that quick action is taken for their treatment.
